The ASUS XG349C monitor has an overall brightness of 400 nits, which helped me visualize all the scenery on the screen clearly, regardless of the time of day or how much light is shining on it. Moreover, the fast in-plane switching (IPS) technology provided a response time of 1ms (GTG) with little to no blurring on the screen. Due to this, I was able to render in real-time with zero to no fluctuations in design.

Aspects like this can be fantastic for gamers, 3D modeling, animation, and AI projects. However, there is little difference in everyday use, so manufacturers often choose higher numbers to attract casual buyers simply looking for limitations like a higher refresh rate, even though this figure is completely invisible by normal means.

Furthermore, this monitor offered a high refresh rate of 144hz, which I overclocked to 180hz. I used it while creating some demo projects on Revit, and luckily, it performed well for me. It also looks good with slim bezels on either side of the gaming display. Further, the MPG341CQR is a 34-inch monitor that boasts a generous 1800R curve. It supports a refresh rate of 144Hz, and it has a VA-type panel, boosting its pixel response time to 1 ms. These fast and epic features of the monitor made me fall in love with its fast performance because I was experiencing some lag ion other monitors.

Although, this monitor raises some questions regarding its pixel response; fortunately, it has not always been an issue with VA panels. Resolutions-wise we’re looking at a 21:9 aspect ratio and 3,440 x 1,440 resolution, which is standard for high-end, ultra-wide monitors. It also has FreeSync 2 support rather than Nvidia G-Sync, just in case you want to use a Radeon card in it.

The MSI’s main advantage is a combination of specs for impressive 4K@144Hz gaming performance, courtesy of modern graphics cards capable of maintaining high frame rates in most games. 4K at 144Hz is indeed awesome. But you’ll need the best modern graphics card you can get your hands on to run an always-on 4K monitor at full detail without dropping frames severely.

Other plus points of this display include USB Type-C functionality. In our testing, all the MPG341CQR’s key features run nicely over USB-C. These features make most pictures appear natural rather than over-saturated like we see from lower-quality displays that often come pre-calibrated out of the box. 

The LG 34IN79M has an average-to-above-average pixel response time, but digital motion still shows some imprecision. Setting the overdrive to its Fast setting helped alleviate the trailing without any overshoot, but several smudges and persistence can still be visible during high-contrasted scenes in movies or games unless you first use the Trace Free feature, which can help reduce blurring and ghosting at lower levels as well.
